PRESS 1. ” CONVICTION OVERTURNED IN INTERNET SOLICITATION CASE – Jeff Dean’s client was charged with solicitation of a minor after communicating sexually with a minor online. Jeff argued that this prohibition against asserting “mistake of age” as a defense violated client’s due process rights and that the conviction must be reversed. The Court of Appeals agreed with Jeff Dean, reversed the conviction, and dismissed the case. ” – Star Tribune (Read Article)

In his investigation of the case, Jeff Dean determined that the prosecutor had likely identified the wrong person as the gunman. Mr. Dean successfully argued at trial that it is impossible to be an accomplice to a person who committed no crime. Mr. Dean won a not guilty verdict for Client by establishing a reasonable doubt as to whether the alleged gunman had in fact committed the crime.
