Mille Lacs is a county in east-central Minnesota. With a population of 26,097 as of 2010, the county has five districts, eight cities including the county seat Milaca, and 17 townships. It is also home to part of the Mille Lacs Indian Reservation. A distinct feature of the county is the Mille Lacs Lake on its northern border – it is the biggest lake in the Brainerd Lakes Area and is where the county got its name, which is French for “thousand lakes”.
