Goodhue County is a southeastern area in Minnesota whose county seat is Red Wing. With a population of 46,183 as of the 2010 census, the county is home to townships and communities including almost the entire Prairie Island Indian Community. A distinct topography also marks the area, with some 16 lakes and more savanna soils than forest or prairie soils. On the northeastern part of the county, the Mississippi River separates it from Wisconsin.
